The treatment of cavities or dental caries is the most common form of restorative care. Cavities form when a tooth becomes decayed due to acid made by bacteria.
To restore the tooth, the decayed portion is completely removed and the area is prepared for the restorative material (filling). Then the filling material is inserted into the tooth and cured (which may be done with the use of an ultraviolet light).
